Good win
(Ibrahimovic,2 goal hero)
The boys delivered once again with an impressive win in Rome to notch up our 4th straight victory in Serie A.It was a performance that was all the more pleasing for the nonchalant manner in which we strolled through the game despite what the scoreline might suggest.
Ibrahimovic put us ahead with a header in the 17th minute before Burdisso equalised with a free header from a corner.Nesta put us ahead from an almost identical position before Ibrahimovic looked to have killed the game with his 2nd headed goal of the night.Bojan grabbed one back to set up a grandstand finish but we held on for the win.
POSITIVES:
-As I mentioned earlier, the team went through the game with minimum fuss.Despite what the scoreline and even the statistics might suggest,we were rarely troubled and always looked in control.
-We grabbed 3 goals,thats 11 goals in 3 games,19 in 9 for the season;more than anyone else.
-Aquilani:grabbed 2 assists,both for Ibra's headed goals.
-Abbiati:as usual made some world class saves, one form Osvaldo which defies belief,...more on him later.
-Abate:constant threat down the right;oh Prandelli,WHEN?
Nesta:Suffice to say it'll be ages before he scores again.
Ibrahimovic:a brace,we could use him back to his best goalscoring form.
Emmanuelson:That was the best I've seen from him in a Milan shirt
NEGATIVES:
-We conceded AGAIN,twice this time!.To put it in perspective,we conceded 7 the entire 2nd round of last season, our tally for the past 3 games is 6,for the 9 games of this season?,14!!!
-Abbiati:Once again was all over the place,he spilled some balls, and there was that incredibly amusing episode in stoppages. As I mentioned earlier,he made some world class saves but he's too inconsistent for my liking.
-The entire defence:Burdisso was given the freedom of the entire penalty area to guide home his equaliser. It was worse for the 2nd,where Lamela beat about 4 players b4 releasing his shot which Krkic got on the rebound;it was reminiscent of Barcelona's equaliser at Camp Nou:a player going through a MOB he shouldn't have made it through whilst Zambrotta gleefully loses his marker to slot home.
Boateng:getting sent home off from the bench?what did he exactly say?.his performance was also indifferent whilst he picked up a knock:bad day at the office?
Nocerino:my grandmum could have scored that!!!!
I believe we are back now,any talk of the early season crisis would just be irrelevant. The team is looking more and more like the champions they are supposed to be.With Pato scheduled to be back soon I believe we are going to get more dangerous upfront. Now to a victory on Tuesday to set up the most mouth-watering of head-to-head clashes next month.....
