Alessandro Delpiero is one of the greatest fowards of all tiime and a Juventus legend.He's the Bianconeri's all time leading goalscorer and formed a formidable strike parternaship with David Trezeguet which terrorised defenders all over Serie A and Europe.The man himself personises Juventus,much like Francesco Totti or Paolo Maldini.
Delpiero's contract is set to expire at the end of this season.Just a few days ago,Juventus announced he would be allowed to leave at the end of the contract.No matter what one might say about the timing of the announcement and what effect it would have on Alessandro,it's still obvious he would leave with his head held high and not short of suitors.However,one of those should NEVER be A.C Milan!!
Adriano Galliani was interviewed in the aftermath of the announcement and he talked about how he didn't take the chance to sign Delpiero as a youngster and how he regrets that.He also said Milan might sign him at the end of the season and that's where I have a problem
Aside from the problem of his status as a Juve legend,there's the small problem of his age.Our team is old enough as it is and signings such as this isn't going to help.If our early season crisis taught us anything its that we need to move away from the senators and build a new team.Silva,Pato,Abate,Boateng,Aquilani and others should head our foward march,and another 'been there done that' character is the last thing we need.Eriksen,Ganso,Montolivo,those are the names we should be looking at in January and next summer,not Alessandro Delpiero.
Thankfully,Galliani has come out to say he was just 'joking',but with him you know you can never believe what he says pertaining to the mercato,so let all Milanista's unite with one voice and scream;NO,THANKS,UNCLE FESTER!!!
